So, how do you guys like the new look?

BS about anything you like in here, as long as it's not TOO controversial

So, how do you guys like the new look?

Post by Zap! »

Went through a phpBB update and it was a pretty big one. The big ones are CAPTCHA anti-spam, a Quick Reply, and many other smaller things on my end. I'm gonna add some more mods, any suggestions? One I like is text hover when you click over a topic (and see the beginning of the text there). Another are FaceBook buttons. Any ideas?

Looking good! Even more important, the board finally seems to be loading quicker too!

Text hover has been added! Just point your mouse over a topic and it will tell you the first paragraph or so of the post (vBulletin does this). I love this mod!

I like the look the site had originally, back when I used to post.

Hey, what's up! Do you mean the black background? With this new update, every old style had to be updated anyway. Do you want me to add another background to choose from?

For some reason they take long. I didn't realize this and sent out another one. Just got both. Sorry for the duplicate, guys!

Looks good to me, though I have to readjust the text size (my fault, not the board's). I like!

Hey, welcome back! I just installed two more .mods to the board. Here's the first one:

Code: Select all

Modification name: User Reminder
Author: lefty74
Modification description: Will 'remind' users that they are members of a community by sending emails when
* not having logged in for a while
* not posted yet * registered, activated but not logged in since
* not having acted on above for a while (after first reminder)... The you better visit soon or ... email :P

Possibility to choose for manual or automatic reminding
Possibility to delete users (manually only)
Possibility to protect users from being reminded
And here's the second:

Code: Select all

MOD Title: Prime Notify
MOD Description: Inserts the content of a post or private messages into the notification e-mail.
The first one is an outstanding way to remind inactive users about the board. The second one I can't wait to see in action. vBulletin has had this for years. Someone reply to this topic so I can check my e-mail to see if it's working! :harry_jump:

Go ahead, is it working?

Yes, the reminder email got me to remember that I am a member here, and it worked great.

So did it work?

Yeah, the instant e-mail notification says the new message right in the e-mail. Not as clean as vBulletin's, but it's a start.

BTW, which e-mail reminder did you get, the mass e-mail I wrote (I accidentally sent two of them), or the automated reminder? If you mean the automated one, what exactly did it say?

Links are now underlined and red, making it much easier on eye to see.
