What's up everyone?

Post by Carlos »

Hey guys and gal(s),

Sorry I haven't posted on here in ages. Been really busy still trying to find a job and planning my wedding in March. I'm gonna try to post and contribute more often. I feel bad for not tending to my modly duties, lol.

Sad to say, I haven't done too much classic and retro gaming lately, as the PS3 Slim I got for my birthday a while back has been keeping me pretty busy with games like Batman: Arkham Asylum, Modern Warfare 2 and Tekken 6. I recently picked up God of War Collection as I never played the PS2 originals (I beat the first one last night) and I'm trying to finish them before GoW 3 comes out in March. My dad got me the "Renegade" edition of DJ Hero and since he got it off eBay, he let me have it today. I've only played it for about an hour, but so far it's been pretty fun. I totally different experience from Guitar Hero, and it's something new and fresh, so I really enjoy it, plus, the mixes are great.

So how's everyone else been? Any cool or new gaming stories?

P.S. I'm Megatron2929 if any of you are on PSN and want to add me. My Facebook is http://www.facebook.com/home.php?filter ... ef=profile if anyone wants to add me there. I'm always welcoming new gamer friends.

I have! :) Got the Jakks Plug It In and Play Retro Arcade Pac-Man unit a couple of months ago (just played it today actually), a new Vectrex homebrew AND went to a gaming expo last month...THE most I've done for gaming EVER, I'd say! (Not counting playing the Jakks Star Wars Original Trilogy unit too, but that isn't exactly 'retro', although the games on it could've come out on 16 bit consoles, if that counts :P )

As I posted elsewhere, mom got a Wii. We've been having fun with that. I must say I've been converted, never thinking I'd get one to being nearly 100% positive that I will (not that I have anything against Nintendo or anything, it just didn't seem appealing to me). It won't be any time soon though.

That's about it...

I had no interest in Wii games either but with Survival Horror being my favorite genre it looks like it might be worthwhile. No time soon but someday maybe............

Yea, my fiancee and I have always seen the Wii as a "secondary" system. We had a Wii a few months ago with Wii Sports Resort, TMNT: Smash-Up, and Dead Space: Extraction. I had a blast with DSE, but WSR was just like the original Wii Sports, and more fun as a party game, and TMNT was boring and just made me want to play Smash Bros. instead. Hell, I played more Virtual Console and WiiWare games than actual Wii games. We started to get quickly bored with it, and I was mad that I was missing out on a lot of fun games that were exclusive to PS3 or XBOX 360, so we returned the Wii and got a PS3 with the games I got now.

The problem with the Wii is that they put out maybe 2 or 3 "must-have" games a year. I mean, honestly, the only Wii game I'm jealous I can't play right now is New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Nothing else interests me. There's a few games coming out on the Wii in 2010 that I'd like to play, so I'll probably get one again sometime next year, but I think I'll get a DSi next.

Yeah I HAD to lol (something I don't say or do too often!) when I told my Australian buddy of my mom's newest acquisition and he said 'beware of shovelware!', since there ARE good games for it out there, but you have to know what to get. Because I'm really stunned in this day and age to be playing a "bare bones" system, and I don't mean because of the graphics, I mean ones where you can't do simple things like start at a later level (rather than starting over with a game every time) or turn off annoying music and vocals, stuff like that. Granted we've only got stuff so far that Nintendo made, I'm sure everything out there isn't like that.

Nothing big, just a couple of thoughts.

Well, that's like saying "There's only one guy good on the Kings, Wayne Gretzky." Yes, Super Mario Wii is just that amazing. I'd give it a 9.5 and have it a major contender for Game of the Year.

I am not saying I disagree with you though. The must haves this year were Punch-Out!!, Wi Sports Resort, and New Mario (I'm sure there were others too). I no longer get more than one game per system a month anyway, so I'm fine with a limited edition of quality. The thing with the Wii is their quality is Mega Quality. Few and far between, but when a good game comes out, watch out! :mariohammer:

I log once a day on FB usually, but don't always update my status much. I am here all the time again though. Trying to turn the board around with the updated looks and advertisements. Seems to be working. Busiest month in like six months so far.

Looks like I've been tapped to do vocals on a death metal tribute cd :) I'll have to post about that later...

Nope, I do vocals...big difference between being a 'singer' and a 'vocalist'!

Speaking of which, just go here, and if you can't stand that kind of music, just wait long enough until you hear Ron doing vocals...because I can imitate him a little.

That's what it's for, a Coroner tribute cd. I'm seeing about picking up a microphone at Radio Shack soon, that'll be a bit better than just using a digital recorder for.
