Drove 101 miles and picked up an Amiga 500 last Friday

Post by Zap! »

Long story short, it was listed as untested. A couple about 70 years old came in an SUV and met me in a parking lot. They said it was their two son's, who are now 45 and 49, and it's been sitting in their attic for decades. They said it powers on, but they couldn't test it. It just came the box, mouse, power brick, and of course the Amiga itself. I paid $200, btw. They also had an Atari 1200 XL, Atari 7800 Pro System, and a couple of other things. The only other thing I bought was a weird 70's toy computer that seems to be in kit form. I paid $20 for that.

Got home and it looked good. It was clean without yellowing, but I decided to open it up and clean it anyway. Only thing that required immediate attention was the leaking battery that I promptly removed. Anyway, here are some pics, in order.

Yup, works great! As for the 70's toy computer kit, it's really weird. Let me know what you think of it, here's a couple of pics:

Bizarre indeed. Looks like it's complete though. Have you had a chance to look over the games and "experiments"? Is predicting the weather accurate?
(There needs to be an eye-rolling smiley for that one.)
