Sega to debut new system, code-named Sammy

Post by Zap! »

Earlier in the week we provided you part 1 of our world exclusive report where we brought to light top secret details of SEGA SAMMY's plans of introducing a next generation HD capable casual console based around the RINGEDGE arcade hardware.

Next week FGNOnline shall present to you part 2 of our world exclusive where we discuss SEGA SAMMY's plans of yet another consumer hardware product this time based around the RINGWIDE arcade hardware.

Wow, looks like I'll have to create a new category for future systems, didn't know where to post this!

(looks at watch and sees that it's not April 1st) So, this isn't a hoax then? I mean, I don't have anything against Sega or anything (obviously, due to having several of their systems) but it costs a crapload and years of research has to be done before coming out with a new console.

If so, good for them then (hopefully).

What is considered a "casual" console? I am interested in seeing what they can do with this though.

I hope Sega can do this. It does take time and billions to make a new system. Perhaps Sega has been working aon one secretly for years, but where is the cash to fund it? How will they promote it? Sure, guys like me will buy it from day one, but I'm not the majority by any means.

I thing "casual system" will be similar to what the Wii was. Cheap, targeted to gamers and non-gamers alike, and not on par with the high end systems in terms of graphics. Let's hope it comes packaged with this guy: :Alex:

BTW, I created a new category, "Future Gaming", just for this. :opaopa:

What if Sega were to basically repackage the Dreamcast with more RAM and a faster CPU, DVD drive and some form of internal storage (or make it compatible with USB and memory cards like SD or Compact Flash)? Throw in a set of wireless controllers like the Wii nunchucks and such and they have an inexpensive system to compete with. They could get around the piracy part by making it require some kind of online verification for the games (of course that would cut into sales).

That could be very well why the news of new Dreamcasts came out weeks ago for $99, to help promote such a thing.

HEY, how do we know you're not secretly working for Sega then, hmmm? :D

Does anyone else think of this as the next Neo Geo?

In any case, I am so happy about this news! :)
