Wii Has its Biggest Sales Week Ever

Post by Zap! »

Wii beats the previous record of 1.78 million while Mario Kart Wii reenters the top 10 worldwide software!

Yep. The biggest week Wii had before was 1.78 million in one week and last week it beat this record with 1.84 million and is now the highest one week sales for a home console this generation. It also topped Nintendo's previous top selling console, the NES, this year.

And Mario Kart Wii has hit 20 million while it came back into the top 10 of worldwide sales and only about 500k sales away from the top ten all time selling games.

All the while Wii Sports Resort obtained another 1.07 million sales this week to top 10 million before the end of the year. And New Super Mario Brothers Wii right on its heels with another million seller week and topping 8.2 million sales total.

All these sales ending December 26th, a great way for the Wii to end the holiday sales period.

Hopefully that'll shut up the last few people out there (however many--or few--are left) that claim the Wii's a fad.

How many "fads" last through FOUR CHRISTMASES? (I think it's been four now)

Yeah, sure.

Good going Wii/Nintendo.

Its unfortunate that a console that sold so well is for the most part disliked by the gaming community. I have had a fair amount of fun with it. I wish Nintendo would have given more games the Selects treatment.

On a side note, where did the Wii rank in sales this generation? Who was first, the Wii, 360 or the PS3?

Between those three, the Wii crushes the competition. Worldwide:

Wii: 100.90 million

XBox 360: 82.9 million

PS3: 80 million

Yeah, no kidding. Sadly, the Wii U has tanked and could be Nintendo's last console ever (not including possible future handhelds).

I'd guess that there is atleast one more console left in them. They will have to make it more traditional though and do whatever they can to get third parties to notice them again.

No idea if it's true or not, but I heard the Wii U's sales have picked up in the last few months.

Even if it fails, I personally don't think it will be their last system. I don't think they'll pull it real early like Sega did with the Dreamcast. Zelda U is probably still a year away (we'll know more in June at the E3). :Link_slash:

Yeah they were saying the sales could go up over Christmastime.
