Actually like this Commodore unit, you can still order the latter from overseas, but I'd rather pay $3-5 for it used rather than $25 new. Plus you have to have a PayPal account (mine's screwed right now) or a credit card (which I don't at the moment) to do that anyway, so there goes those options.

I have seen used ones on AtariAGE sell for 25$ + shipping, also the foreign ones aren't NTSC and will broadcast black and white on some televisions.

The eBay one for low priced new, was a mistaken wrong titling by someone whom didn't know what they had. That was a chance buy which probably wont occur again for along time.

Also the PAL ones are based on Rev-2, which is not preferred.
There are 3 kinds, NTSC original, PAL Rev-2 and the C64 Hummer DTV Rev-3.

Rev-2 has display and sound issues on top of the displaying in black and white.

I'm keeping my eyes open for this one. I had no idea it was mass produced and available at chain stores, or I would have jumped on it QUICK.

How hard is it to hack compared to the Flashback II? Easier, harder?

C64 DTV has direct solder points, but there are more mods available for the DTV.
So its going to take more hours of time to do a complete DTV overhaul.

I have heard the cartridge port mod on a Atari Flashback 2 is not only hard to do but many hours of time to do so. And also requires cutting into the top which is a bit flimsy. Plus a crap ton of soldering and wires.


So they are likely about the same in difficulty.

Well I mean with resale shop prices in general, maybe $10 tops. Because occasionally you'll hear the rare story of someone getting a Vectrex for $5-15 because the resale shop owner thought they were a monitor for some obscure computer that no one will know, much less need and buy, without knowing they could've gotten 10 times (or more) for what they sold it for.

Most used plug and play stuff goes for that amount, especially since if it's one of those cheapie Jakks units, the joystick's usually not going to work. I just saw some Power Rangers one at the place I started frequenting several weeks ago as well.

Oh, that's a possibility for sure. So many people are unaware of the DTV so you are probably right. Resale shops would be a good search area.

Also look for them in kids' toys, they get stuck in with all kinds of other things like v-tech and all the radica games. I know I'm still looking

Another similar thing to keep in mind with the above is if you're looking for the 2600 Starpath games to look in the cassette section of resale shops, people have supposedly found them in there over the years, as shop owners mistakenly think they're bands (or just try to sell them anyway).

They're fairly rare, several of them are like a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10, their last few ones (Sword of Saros) are about an 8.

The Supercharger was an add-on like an overgrown cartridge that fit into your 2600 with a wire to plug into a tape deck. The games came on tapes, but they weren't the crappy kinds for computers where they took 8-15 minutes (more or less) to load, then froze up on the second screen, these only took 30 seconds to load but kicked butt. A lot of them weren't original though (Fireball was Super Breakout, the pack-in of Phaser Patrol was Star Raiders/StarMaster, etc.), but Escape from the Mindmaster was absolutely fantastic, being in 3-D and having several mini-games in it, and it had probably THE best ending of all 2600 games if you were able to beat it. I think the Supercharger was about $40-50 when it was first released, but the tapes were like $15 new, a pretty good value when new 2600 games were like $20-35.

They only came out with a dozen games though; I've got four of them.

They also came out with a near-perfect arcade port of Frogger and Dragonstomper, one of the very few, true RPG games for the 2600.

The flea market today didn't have much to offer, I did manage to get a 60 capacity cassette holder made from wood, great for loose Genesis carts and an electronic 18" Pez dispenser with R2-D2 (Artoo) on it. I like droids.

No more DTV's yet, my favorite toy lady didn't have one. I am still looking, always will be.

I can't wait for the Englishtown NJ Swap Meet. This is no normal flea market. Twice a year they are held (April and September), and always over a three day span (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). They are outdoors and MASSIVE, around the size of 20 football fields. I always leave with something cool.
