Re: The Dendy (Russia's NES/Famicom)
I've seen one taken apart before, it looks like it was built just as good, if not better, than the Famicom. I would own a Dendy over 99% of the other Famiclones floating around. If you get one, just don't plug it in!

Re: Downandup/Conficker worm
Since the move to Vista, I've had maybe two or three viruses, which for the amount of time I spend online and the stuff I download, is remarkable. Compared to XP I was getting at least a virus a week, I think I've had three in a year and a half. I use Malwarebytes Anti-Virus ( a heuristic scan), Spy...

Re: The Konix Multi System
There's rumors that there are some floating around, but I've never seen one. I have seen some mock-ups at various conventions, though. The ones that are out there that claim to be working have never been demonstrated, so I think it's an urban legend.

Sadly, no. I've hunted one for a while now. The ones I see are either too expensive or in bad shape.

Re: Swap Meets
We never had any "real" swap meets where I grew up, but we had the flea market! Main thing I hated was that they were all so dirty. I went for the games and the comics, but usually it would be some guy that knew nothing about what he was selling trying to sell a sun-bleached copy of an old...

Re: Genesis or SNES guy
I'd have to say that in the beginning I was a SNES guy all the way, laughing at the Genesis kids that had no Mario to play. Then , Mortal Kombat happened. All of the sudden I was making a mad grab for the Genesis. Sega had introduced the version 2 model, and it had an insanely low price of something...

Re: Digitally re-mastered issues of the old fanzine Zap!
I found your "who's who" entry over at On-File : Ter Micharoni: Ter edited one of the two fanzines entitled Zap!. The other, by Scott Weller, had two exclamation points in the title. Zap! was unique in that it focused as much on Ter's conservative political beliefs as it had video games. T...

Re: The Dendy (Russia's NES/Famicom)
It was not an officially licensed product. Nor were any of the games legit; there were about three or four major bootleggers that produced the games and one or two Dendy manufacturers. What's funny is that the Dendy, though it was a counterfeit Famicom, was seen as the "genuine" gaming sys...

Re: Games that were previewed in gamer mags...
Thrill Kill! It actually plays a lot like the Wu Tang game. I've got two different versions, one is about three quarters done and it's horrible. The other one is like 95% complete, and it plays well. If you have a modded PS One, you can find the Rom fairly easily on the web. I found this review that...

Games that were previewed in gamer mags...
That ended up never coming out. I was looking at the Dec. 93 issue of EGM that's a veritable treasure trove of titles that never came out: Terminator 2: Chess Wars, Homey tha Clown (I'm guessing this was based on the In Living Color skit), The Beverly Hillbillies, Hellraiser 1 & 2, D&D: Towe...

Re: Another Classic gaming site - COOL!
Definitly a unit that I THINK was by Coleco, tri-angualar in shape each side was for different things, pong type game one side, racing game on another and shooting games on the third, of course it had black and white pong type graphics. The Coleco Telstar Arcade, most assuredly. I had one but the l...

What's your favorite classic Atari System?
Between the VCS/2600, 5200, or the 7800, which one do you find yourself more drawn to? I like the 2600 for the aesthetics, a great design that compliments any room decor and makes everyone huddle around and ask questions. Well, non-retro gamers anyway. It's also one of, if not the most historically ...

Does anybody else own one?
I've got one, but none of the cartridges. Just the built in games, which have little replay value but hilarious sound effects.
