Getting an ATARI 5200 and YOU CANNOT TALK ME OUT OF IT!

1985-1989 gave us the Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Master System, Atari 7800, XE Game System, etc. Great times indeed.

By no means should this purchase make you think I have improved my current financial position or found employment! I am just an idiot who cannot resist temptation with a credit card DOH!

That's right folks I am going for it, getting an ATARI 5200! Despite the opinion of this being a BAD system by many with craptacular controllers I must see for myself!
I am waiting to receive a very nice 5200 package from eightbit on ATARI AGE, see the full description and details including beautiful pictures HERE:

http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/16 ... n-the-usa/

DETAILS: This is my last 5200 console, as well as my nicest one ;) The system still has the plastic over the metal bezel. The Trakball still has the plastic over it's bezel as well. Here's what you get for $125 SHIPPED:

Four port system "asterisk model" - This system is a special model that was "fixed" by Atari just before the two port models came out. Unlike most 4-port systems, this model CAN use the VCS adapter. This is the most compatible model to own (plays every 5200 game in the collection) and can use the VCS adapter as well. Set comes with VCS adapter, Trak-Ball Controller, BRAND NEW official power supply (just purchased from B&C Computervisions), automatic switchbox, and the games listed below. NO CONTROLLER INCLUDED. The system is in excellent condition and works great! :atari-logo:

GAMES: Berzerk (with manual) Choplifter!Frogger (CIB)James Bond 007
Mountain King (1 overlay & manual) Popeye Q*Bert Qix (2 overlays & manual)
Realsports Soccer (2 overlays & manual) Realsports Tennis (2 overlays & manual) River Raid (1 overlay & manual) Soccer (alternate "Realsports Soccer" label) Space Dungeon Space Shuttle Star Raiders (2 overlays & manual) Star Trek Star Wars - The Arcade Game Vanguard (with manual)Wizard of Wor Also some extra manuals and overlays in there just to clear it out ;)

LOOK FORWARD TO A FUTURE VIDEO SHOWING ALL THE ATARI 5200 DETAILS AND GLORY LOL!

Its not a crappy system at all, just the controllers.

That's like trying to blame the Jaguar for being crap for having several ports (Flashback) that weren't any better than the Genesis versions (when that was gaming companies' fault, NOT the Jaguar's) and for not exploiting the power of the system (most of the time).

Sheesh, and you're a classic gamer? Shouldn't ya know better? ;)

LOL! My whole post was meant for those who say all that negative stuff about the 5200!, I am so looking forward to it, I even just last night ordered an Upgraded Gold CX52 Joystick from Best Electronics to ensure I have one good dependable controller!

Makes me wonder if that'll work with the just-released Tempest :P I just played some of that earlier at an expo today. (Yes, I'll have pics...I think. I forgot to charge the batteries [it's a good idea to do so if you think its been a while since it was last done, which I forgot to do, which, yeah, they went dead after less than 10 pics] but I'm going back after din-din.) It's ok for some of the time, but when you only want to move one lane in a level (i. e. like if Flippers are after you) you're going to get killed. Other than that it seems fairly good.

Oh, and just trying to select a level is a damn nightmare too...too sensitive!
