New ports of classic titles

Post by TwinChargers »

What are the best of them? They don't necessarily have to be current gen, they can be one of the previous ones. I know that they remade OutRun a few years back and it got rave reviews. The GBA remade Mario 2, 3 and Super Mario World from the NES and SNES to much acclaim. What other classics have made a reappearance on the newer systems with a graphical/sound upgrade while staying true to its original roots?
These pretzels are making me thirsty!

Dig Dug Deeper (I know, sounds like a porn movie :P ) wasn't screwed up, for once. Has the same basic gameplay, but with power-ups, like a deal that'll make your pump extremely long...unfortunately in the later levels the Fygar's fire can reach several inches across too, so you have to watch out for that. The playfields change too, having lava and ice levels (although the latter you don't slip and slide around though, surprisingly). Can't believe they don't have a two player option though, and the ending totally sucks, just a static screen (no animation!) of Dig Dug waving from his space ship as the credits roll, whatever.

I was surprised when my sister's kid brought it over and was playing it, which I was going "you're playing DIG DUG?" And this is from a kid who doesn't even know what Breakout is!
