Hiya from El Paso!

Post by nathanallan1 »

The first thing I saw was the excellent animated icons on the left :)

MaximumRD showed me this site, and I've got to give him KUDOS!!

I live in El Paso, and am a networking student. I have my Associates already, but am going back for a few small classes here and there to really round out the whole communications/computering field. Nobody hires here for networking, it seems that everything is out of another state and done remotely. So I opened a small computer repair and classic gaming shop, Super Mega Turbo Classic Gaming and Computers.

It's not up right now, but it will be.

My first computer experience was back in grade school when they got a brand new Atari 400, and noone was allowed to touch it, but I was really nice (plus my Mom knew the teacher) so I got to play on it. Next I used an Apple ][ that was in the office. I think I was the only one who could figure out the way to use it.

Next we got a C64 at home, and that was the BOMB! My favorite game on it was Dungeons of Daggorath, it was a cart game. We didn't get the disk drive, it was way too much at the time.

Then we got an Atari 2600, my Dad had a fit for paying $110 for a toy.

From then on it was console after console and computer after computer in various places (friends' houses, schools).

So I learned to fix them when I was in the Army. Bought my first from a defunct company called Microworkz, and apparently I was one of a handful of people to get a machine from them before they declared bankruptcy, so I guess I got lucky!

That was the last computer I bought new, since then I have rebuilt the machine I have had over and over.

I'm also a member of atariage, vintage-computer and sega-16 that I frerquent often (all of them).

I really hope to contribute here, so far I haven't ticked too many people off :D
