Introduce...your systems!

Post by Darryl B. »

Probably too much for those to do that have huge system collections, but not for me, at least!

Post about what systems you have and certain games that stick out for you, even if they're not severely rare or anything.

What I have:

Atari 2600--about 50 games

Games of merit: Indy 500, Ram It, Adventure, 1/3 of the Supercharger library (Phaser Patrol, Communist Mutants, Escape from the Mindmaster, Dragonstomper), Tunnel Runner, Fathom, both Pitfalls, Crackpots, H. E. R. O., Midnight Magic, Stellar Track, others

Atari 7800--about 20 games

Games of merit: Tower Toppler, Ballblazer, Asteroids (two players onscreen rocks! Pardon the pun!), Jinks

Vectrex--over 30 games, although that's mainly due to the homebrews with several games each
Gom: Mine Storm, Bedlam, Spike, all the homebrews I have (especially the limited edition I, Cyborg and Vector 21)

Genesis--about 20 games

Gom: Star Control, Fatal Rewind, Sonic the Hedgehog, Gauntlet 4 (especially with four player adapter), Toejam and Earl, Sub-Terrania, Zero Tolerance, Desert Strike, Gods, The Immortal, Ms. Pac-Man (big scrolling mazes, two player simultaneous action...great!), Williams Arcades' Greatest Hits

32X

Gom (only four): Doom, Kolibri (weird!), Star Trek, Shadow Squadron

CD--about a dozen games?

Gom: The Adventures of Willie Beamish, Panic!, Heart of the Alien, Silpheed, Flashback, Stellar-Fire

PC--not many

Gom: Qix, Pyro II (homebrew), Star Trek: Captain's Chair, Lode Runner, The Depths of Doom Trilogy

Might eventually bump this up once I start living on my own again to show my collections...here's a pic of when I had the house to myself for several days, at least:

You can see my Genesis/32X in the box (but not CD player, on the bottom), my 7800, Supercharger, and some games.

And here's a shot of all my Vectrex homebrews, at least, since those are together for now:

(All the other games that I didn't mention that I have are Scramble, Star Trek and Berzerk.)

Wow, very nice collection, love the pics! How are those Vectrex homebrews?

And welcome to Zap! We are new and looking for new posters and users, but I will not give up until we succeed! :)
One burning question that will remain with him until his dying days....."Was my victory really worth the price I had to pay?"

I recommend them all, although the two small ones from Fury (I, Cyborg/Vector 21) are sold out right now. George (the creator of them) said a while back he's thinking of maybe doing unlimited releases for his games at some point...right now only one out of his four games can be downloaded as a ROM to play off Vectrex emulators.

Glad you like the pics, thanks :)

And here's a rundown on what the Vectrex homebrews are:

Vecmania--unfinished two player Discs of Tron and Tempest clones, plus full game clones of Asteroids, Missile Command, Space Invaders, Atari Arcade Star Wars, Phoenix, Eliminator, hidden bonus game
Spike Hoppin'--Q*Bert clone, plus a hidden other arcade clone
Moon Lander--blows away Lunar Lander inspirition!
Protector/Y. A. S.I.--Defender (great!)/Space Invaders clones (the latter has unlockable bonus modes to it, like invisible invaders, moving bunkers)
Vector 21 (original)--card game, like a Blackjack/Solitaire hybrid
I, Cyborg (original)--somewhat like unreleased Dark Tower prototype
All Good Things--Asteroids, Tetris, Kaboom!, Space Invaders Part 2 clones, plus bonus hidden game
Space Frenzy--Space Fury clone, plus unreleased Super Mario World demo clone
Vectopia--Gyruss and Targ clones, plus various unfinished demos and all (included overhead racing game is still fun, even unfinished...up to four players!)
